Whales play a significant role in the functioning of marine ecology. However, their population is dwindling.  6 out of 13 whale species are classified as endangered. The North Atlantic whale is one of the most endangered species. They are threatened by human activity which if left unchecked, could make them go extinct in next twenty years.
