New sub species of the blue whale

The world’s largest mammals make an impressive journey during spring, from oceans around the world, to the poles, where they give birth to calves and gorge on krills. However, a new study shows that blue whales around New Zealand are distinct, non-migratory species. They seem to be sub species of the pygmy blue whales that are under threat.
