Mumbai plastic ban: Rs 5,000 fine for first time offenders

Maharashtra government’s ban on dozens of daily-use plastic items has come into effect in Mumbai city. From now on, plastic bags from a local grocer, takeaway containers from restaurants and even garbage bags to dispose waste will become illegal. First time offenders will be fined Rs 5,000. However, the fines will be imposed only from Monday.
