The thunderstorms and lightning has claimed 40 lives in total in UP, Bihar and Jharkhand since May 28; 9 persons were killed and 6 others injured in UP alone. In Unnao district, 5 were killed and 4 injured. In Bihar, the toll went up to 17 and in Jharkhand it was 18. The IMD has issued a warning that rain, squall and hailstones will continue today.
