Japanese microscopes battered in an earthquake

The World’s 2 powerful telescopes suffered damage due to a deadly earthquake that hit the western Japanese city of Osaka. The 2 damaged units cost approximately $20 mn. One is 12 m high unit that captures 1,600 images of atomic level substances per second. The other is a 3 MV microscope that allows researchers to look at tiny biological materials.
