Shankar and Roopa, a farmer couple from Hittne Heebagilu, used to grow tobacco but couldn’t yield enough to support their own needs. They, along with 20 farmers in their village, were helped by the Sahaja Samrudha, a Bengaluru social enterprise who helped them shift to more lucrative and sustainable crops like okra and worked closely with these farmers.
