Trees suffer from malnutrition due to pollution

A study in UK showed that tree characteristics and local air and soil quality affect mycorrhizae, a fungi that provide mineral nutrients to the tree roots. Pollution leads to malnutrition in plants since characteristics of the tree and local environmental conditions (atmospheric pollution and soil variables) influence presence and quality of the fungi.
