Saskatchewan’s prairie cherries can survive at temperatures as low as -40oc and can be eaten straight from the tree. These dwarf sour cherries are tartar than traditional sweet cherries, and have been a culinary staple on the praries for decades. They grow plentiful on short, stout bushes producing a deep-red fruit that is ripe from July to August.
