A Heldreich’s pine tree tucked away in a national park in southern Italy has been scientifically dated and is 1230 years old. The tree that survived major climate changes underwent a growth spurt in recent decades as seen in the larger rings added to the trunk. The park is home to 500-600 year-old pines but only three appear to be a millennium old.
