International animal welfare organization, FourPaws is constructing Elephant’s Lake, the largest elephant sanctuary in Southeast Asia, in Myanmar’s Bago region. Out of Myanmar’s 7000 elephants, around 1000 of them are mostly retired elephants of the logging industry. This sanctuary will provide them safety and rehabilitation in a caring environment.
