Serigraphy, also known as silk or screen printing, originated during the Chinese Song Dynasty. It is a method of creating an image on any surface by pressing ink through a screen with some areas blocked off by a stencil. Andy Warhol brought it to the realm of fine art and is also ‘one of the most influential pieces of modern art’.
