Indian groundwater is found to have high levels of toxins

Nearly 50% of districts in India have high levels of groundwater contamination with the nitrates level exceeding permissible limits. The discharge of toxic elements from industries and landfills and diffused sources of pollution, like pesticides and fertilisers over the years, have been the cause of most of this contamination.
