Ice in Antarctic melts faster than previously anticipated

The researchers have warned of the melting of ice in Antarctica at an alarming speed and the catastrophic consequences around the world due to the subsequent rise of sea level. As a result of melting, some 200bn tonnes of ice are now being lost to the ocean, it said. It has pushed up the global sea levels to three folds in five years.
