French President Emmanuel Macron has honoured Mamoudou Gassama giving him a medal for an act of ‘bravery and devotion’ for saving a child. Gassama, who is an illegal immigrant from Mali, was promised documents allowing him to stay, and a fast-track process to gain French nationality. He was also offered job at a fire and emergency services.
