Doctoral student Cory Toth is on a mission to listen to bats, particularly the New Zealand short-tailed bat. His research found that the bat not only sings but also produces most song output. The fuzzy haired males exercise their vocal chords on an average of 6 hours at a time, producing 100,000 syllables. They do that to attract a mate.
