Drinking water immediately after waking up may not boost metabolism as is popularly claimed. Nutritionist Alex Caspero explains that drinking water first thing in the morning can help stay hydrated but does not actually burn more calories. The best way to boost resting metabolic rate therefore is to exercise and increase the body’s muscle mass.
