UN inducts Iceland in HR Council replacing US

The UN General Assembly has inducted Iceland in the UN Human Rights Council following the US’ decision to quit the organisation last month. Iceland got 172 votes after being nominated by by the group of Western nations. The 47-member Human Rights Council allocates a specific number of seats for each region of the globe.
