Tamil Nadu plans to shut Sterlite Plant permanently

Tamil Nadu Govt is reported to have decided on the permanent closure of Sterlite Copper smelting plant in Tuticorn run by London-listed Vedanta Resources. The protest demanding the closure of the plant ensued a police firing that killed 13 people. Residents and environmental activists say emissions from the plant are polluting the air and water.
