Tamil Nadu bans production, use of plastic products

On World Environment Day, Tamil Nadu has decided to ban single use plastics such as polythene bags and bottles. The ban, announced by the CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami, will come to effect from Jan 2019. However, there will be exemption for packets of essential goods such as milk, oil and medicines. It had banned use of plastic bags below 51 microns.
