Suppression of sexual thoughts has opposite effect

A new study suggests that suppression of sexual thoughts among religious people begets greater preoccupation with sexual thoughts and fantasies. A survey of 661 Jewish Orthodox teens reported greater preoccupation with unwanted sexual thoughts than secular adolescents, resulting in self-report of compulsive sexual behavior and lower well-being.
