Sughra Hussainy explores art in asylum

30 year-old Afghan artist Sughra Hussainy abandoned her home in Kabul and sought asylum in the US for the love of art. She creates small, intricate paintings with ornate detail, overlaid with calligraphy, using traditional Afghan techniques. She makes her own paper, crushes lapis lazuli to make paint and trims fur off cats to make soft paintbrushes.
