SoftBank to claim stake in GM’s self-driving car venture

Japanese telecom giant SoftBank is reported to have plans to acquire stake in General Motors’ self-driving car project by investing $2.25 billion. GM is said to have plans to commercialize its Cruise program in 2019 through ride-sharing. The announcement sparked a rally in GM shares, which jumped 11.5% to $42.16 in pre-market trading.
