SC reserves order on constitutional validity of adultery law
Beeps By www.gobeyondpink.com | Aug 09 2018

The SC has reserved the petitions that challenged the constitutional validity of adultery law which invokes punishment only on man. The Centre defended the section 497 of IPC saying adultery is a crime because it damages marriage and family. The adultery law punishes only man and not a married woman, who is treated as a victim not as an abettor.
