Rukmini Devi: Dancer and epitome of Indian culture

Rukmini Devi is a dancer who represents Indian culture and heritage at its best. Born on 29th Feb 1904 in Madurai, she was exposed to music and dance while growing up. Her ideas were humanistic and refused presidency. She resolved to erase stereotypes related to dance. She was the 1st women to be nominated in Rajya Sabha and won Padma Bhushan in 1956.
