RBI asks banks to replace Windows XP with new OS

The RBI has asked all the banks to remove Microsoft Windows XP from ATMs and all systems by June 2019 after the OS was deemed outdated by Microsoft. It had raised concerns of operating ATMs on Windows XP and other unsupported operating systems. Besides upgrading OS, RBI also asked banks to implement other security measures.
