Opportunities shrinking for women in India

India has 18% of the world’s population but it accounts for only 26% of working women. India is ranked 121st among 131 nations with regard to female workforce participation. Patriarchal restrictions and mechanisation in agriculture have deprived urban and rural women of jobs. Wage gap, harassment and lack of childcare are factors shackling women.
