Opioids linked to risk of fracture nonunion

A study conducted by researchers at Louisiana State University, suggests that chronic use of certain medications like opioids can up the risk factor for fracture nonuuion. Nonunion usually occurs when the fracture has a poor blood supply or when it moves too much. It was reported that opioids as a group create a greater nonunion than non-opioids.
