Neglect in childhood leads to social media addiction

A study on 1029 students shows that young adults, who had experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse, emotional neglect and physical neglect in childhood show more signs of problematic and compulsive social media use. Such people tended to use social media as a coping strategy and are unable to cut down use, even when negatively affected by it.
