Malaysia convicts the first person for spreading fake news

Saleh Sulaiman has been penalized for a week in jail and fined with 10,000 ringgit. He admitted posting a video on YouTube that alleged that the emergency services responded slowly to the murder of a Hamas member who was gunned down in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia passed a law in April that awards 6 years of imprisonment to offenders spreading fake news.
