Low levels of testosterone lead to autoimmune diseases

Researchers found that lower levels of male sex hormone, testosterone, could be the reason for women being more prone to autoimmune diseases, where the immune system creates antibodies that attack the body’s own tissue. Testosterone suppresses protein BAFF, thus reducing the number of B-cells, which are lymphocytes that release harmful antibodies.
