Liquid water discovered on the surface of the Red planet

Researchers have found evidence of an existing body of liquid water on Mars, using Marsis, a radar instrument on the Mars Express orbiter. The proposed "lake" is beneath the south polar ice cap. Though previous research had found possible signs of intermittent liquid water flowing on the surface, this is the first sign of a persistent water body.
