Less care puts 240,000 girls to death in India: Study

A study on gender discrimination has found that almost 240,000 girls under the age of five die in India every year due to improper care they received. It says that society’s preference for sons over girls not only prevent girls from being born but also precipitate the death of those who are born. Gender equality also includes better care, it says.
