India’s trade deficit widens to record high in June

India’s trade deficit is reported to have widened to $16.6 billion in June from $14.62 billion in May. Though export witnessed a moderate growth, the trade deficit registered five years high, mainly because of rising oil prices. The oil import bill of India rose sharply with global oil prices amid concerns that U S sanctions against Iran.
