Indian researcher explains the hydraulic jump phenomenon

Water splaying the sink before going down the plughole is a household occurrence. It is called the hydraulic jump and was documented by the Leonardo da Vinci in 1500's. This can increase the turbulence in deep waters. Scientist Rajesh Bhagat says the size of a jump can be easily calculated and this in turn helps reduce water usage in industries.
