India to take over Lanka’s loss-making airport to operate

India will take over the Sri Lanka’s loss-making Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in Hambantota to operate. A joint consortium of both countries would operate the $210 million facility airport, in which India would have major stake, a Sri Lankan official said. The airport is dubbed the “world’s emptiest airport” due to a lack of flights.
