India lags behind standard norms in ending human trafficking

The US again placed India in ‘Tier 2’ category in its annual report on trade of humans due to the disproportionately low prosecution in human trafficking cases. It asserted that the conviction rate, investigations and prosecutions in India do not meet the set standard for abolishing the trafficking. It also asked India to do more in this regard.
