IIT scientists create oil spill-cleaning fish scales

Researchers from IIT have developed a stretchable underwater superoleophobic membrance that can separate water from the various forms of oil-contaminations. They took this principle from fish scales whose typical structure and chemistry makes them repel oil naturally. This membrane can work in complex scenarios like extreme pH and temperatures.
