The Home Minister Rajnath Singh has appealed to the people in Tuticorin to remain calm. The Ministry has sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on the police firing and the prevailing situation in the port city. Police firing at the protesters demanding the closure of Vedanta group’s Sterlite Copper plant due to pollution left 11 dead.
