Heading the ball is riskier for women footballers

A study found brain damage from heading a football is 5 times more extensive in women than men. Women tend to suffer brain trauma from heading footballs. The brain’s white matter damaged in women were more than in men, which affects the communication between different parts of the brain. These brain changes did bring altered thinking ability.
