Ex-LS speaker Somnath Chatterjee dies of cardiac arrest

Former speaker of Lok Sabha, Somnath Chatterjee breathed his last at a hospital in Kolkata. The 89 year old CPM veteran, who was suffering from kidney ailment, was put on ventilator after a cardiac arrest. Chatterjee, one of the longest-serving parliamentarians, was the speaker of 14th Lok Sabha when the Manmohan Singh-led UPA-I was in power.
