Elderly Japanese women take to petty crimes

The number of senior women in Japanese prisons has increased due to a disturbing reason. A government survey found that more than 50% elderly citizens do not have any relative or family to provide care. They prefer the prison for refuge and care and commit small offences to get arrested. Care for such prisoners has also increased medical costs.
