Doing away with expiry dates to tackle food waste

Tesco is set to stop using date stamps on 70% of its own-brand products, in a bid to tackle food waste.  Micronutrients like vitamins are unstable and reduce once harvested. Storing produce in refrigerators to prevent breakdown of vitamins can have undesirable side effects. Minerals however don’t get degraded. Produce that looks fresh must be eaten.
