Contact with Mars rover lost due to dust storm

NASA solar powered Opportunity rover has been silenced by a vast dust storm that enveloped the surface of Mars. It seems to have gone into a power saving mode and will remain so until the sunlight re-appears. NASA officials said they were waiting for the storm to subside reconnect with the rover. The rover had previously weathered a storm in 2007.
