Blood test to predict premature birth in pregnant women

Researchers at Stanford University have developed a new blood test that detects premature birth in pregnant women. It can also be used to know a fetus's gestational age and it is less expensive than ultrasound scanning. By assessing maternal blood levels of cell-free RNA, it can measure the activity of maternal, placental and fetal genes.
