Research reveals new aspects of birds’ intelligence. Crows were found to be able to operate a vending machine by using the right token needed to release a treat while green herons hunt by luring prey with bait on the surface of the water. The rare bird kea, was seen setting off traps using twigs it had pared for the purpose, without taking the bait.
