Apple becomes world’s first trillion-dollar valued company

Apple’s market valuation surged past the $1 trillion point on Thursday, the first time in history a company has reached that level. Shares surged 2.5% in the afternoon but then fell back, taking the valuation back to $988bn. The share price closed at $207.39 meaning that the company finished the day's trading worth more than $1tn.
